Hard limits, soft limits – and why the planner never suggests them

Limits are the frame that makes surrender possible. How to talk about them, and how Noxette protects them.

A limit is not a failure of a submissive or a dominant. Limits are the frame that makes letting go possible.

Hard and soft

  • Hard limits are never done. No negotiation during a scene.
  • Soft limits are things someone is hesitant about – maybe with preparation, maybe one day, maybe never.
  • Limits change. Revisit your lists regularly, and never treat an old “yes” as permanent.

Talking about them

A kink list is a great starting point: rate what you like, mark what you don't. Then talk. What is behind a limit? Is it the act, a memory, a fear of injury, of losing face? You don't need to explain a hard limit – but understanding helps both of you.

How Noxette uses your lists

  • Tasks with a kink on either partner's limit list are never suggested – not by the planner, not by the generator.
  • The ratings of both of you steer the suggestions, so it prefers what you share.
  • Each of you decides who can see your list – nobody, your partner, or everyone.

And the most important limit tool is not in any app: a safeword – or a safe signal when speech is blocked. Agree on it before you start.
